Word Doc Merger

Combine a big stack of .docx files into one document, in whatever order you like. Everything runs in your browser — files never leave your computer.

Start each file on a new page Inserts a page break before every file except the first. Add the file name as a heading before each section Handy for knowing where one file ends and the next begins — especially useful with a lot of files. Add a table of contents page at the front Lists each file's heading. Requires the file-name headings above; opens in Word ready for you to right-click and "Update Field" to fill in page numbers. Normalize to the first file's styles (default) Simplest and smallest output. Other files' custom styles (Heading colors, table styles, etc.) that aren't already in the first file may fall back to a plain default look. Preserve each file's original styles Carries every file's own style definitions into the merged document, renaming any that collide by name. Keeps each section looking like its source file, at the cost of a larger file and possible duplicate style names in Word's style list.

Good to know before you merge

Text, headings, bullet/numbered lists, tables, and images are carried over from every file.
The page size, margins, and orientation of the last file in your list are used for the whole merged document.
If different files use very different custom styles or fonts, some formatting may fall back to a default look rather than matching the original exactly.
Headers/footers from individual files aren't merged in — only the content between them. A file with a header, footer, comments, footnotes, or tracked changes gets a ⚠ warning in the list below once it's been read, so you know before merging, not after.
Corrupted or non-.docx files are skipped automatically and listed after merging, so one bad file won't stop the rest.
